Where Your Donation Goes
The dear friends I made in Tamale helped me create Brilliant Future International. We visited surrounding villages and schools to seek out underprivileged girls who had the desire to go to school. Each and every one of them was an inspiration. Each and every one of them touched my heart in a way that I can't explain in words. They are my hero's, and I can only hope to have the strength, courage, and will that each of them do.
I initially interviewed 82 girls, most of which were painfully shy because no one had ever asked them about their dreams, their fears, their hopes for a brighter future. They were reluctant to speak of their troubles because they didn't want to shame their parents or community. Once they began to trust me as the friend I wanted to be, I got to know each of them, and their stories will be with me always.
Currently there are 41 students being sponsored by Brilliant Future. All of them are very different, and very special. All of their needs are different, but their determination is alike. Eleven of these girls are physically disabled, and would otherwise be stranded in their homes without wheelchairs or prosthetic limbs. Their perseverance is amazing. Despite their many obstacles, they have complete faith in possibilities of their future.
All of the girls are now tutored in "extra classes," so they can feel confident about school after having attended inconsistently while growing up. This also is their time to do school work and study outside of their home, which would often lead to disruptions.
Computer classes are offered to girls who have completed their junior secondary courses….opening doors to a whole new world! Students will learn Microsoft Word, Power Point, and Excel, as well as internet use so they can establish relationships with their sponsors and become comfortable with the unknown world of technology that surrounds them!
Health care is also an important factor, as girls often get Malaria and respiratory infections that can keep them out of school for weeks if untreated. For $28 a year these girls will receive a health insurance card, which will cover all basic health needs and prescriptions.
Our team makes sure that all students have a paid tuition, text books, school supplies, fitted uniform, bicycles (for those that live far from school), shoes, school bag, and lunch every day of the school week. We also communicate with parents/guardians as often as possible so we can work together to ensure each students success and happiness!
We have asked for contributions that fall into three categories:
| $100.00 will cover all fees for one school year | |
| $300.00 will cover the next 3 school years | |
| General contributions of any amount |
of school tuition.
$300 will cover 3-years
of school tuition.
Make a general contribution
in any amount.
